Cozy games that don't demand your whole day
There's a trap in cozy games: some of them are secretly built to punish you for not checking in. Crops wilt, timers run out, and suddenly your relaxing farm feels like a second job.
The good ones do the opposite. Harvest Hollow, for instance, lets time pass sensibly and never scolds you for taking a week off. You return, and the valley is patiently waiting.
What I look for is a design that treats your attention as a gift, not a resource to extract. No aggressive push notifications, no daily-login guilt, no timers designed to make you anxious.
When a cozy game gets this right, it becomes something rare — a place you visit because you want to, in five-minute doses, on your own schedule.
If a farm sim makes you feel stressed, it has failed at its one job. Uninstall it and find one that lets you breathe.
